About the artist

Adam Cheng (English name: Adam Cheng Siu Chau) is a Hong Kong male singer, actor, and television host, known as 秋官, who was born in Hong Kong on February 24, 1947. Born 黃可忠, Cheng later changed his name to 鄭創世 and attended "同濟中學." At 16, he applied in succession to the acting training programs of "大喜," "同文," and "南國," and met his mentor 良鳴 at "同文影業公司"; 良鳴 taught students using Konstantin Stanislavsky's psychological system, and Cheng embraced this naturalistic style of acting and regarded 良鳴 as his first mentor. Representing Tsim Sha Tsui in a competition, Cheng performed "手足情深" and won "最佳男主角"; at the celebration banquet, he caught the attention of 關志堅, the owner of "堅城電影公司," who invited him to audition and then signed him, launching his career as a star before he was 20.

In 1966, at age 19, Cheng initially played minor roles; his first leading role was in "黑煞星," opposite 陳寶珠. While singing in nightclubs, Cheng met 杜平, 陳齊頌, 胡美萍, and others, and was invited to sing on 陳齊頌's music program "弦韻寄心聲"; in 1969, he joined Rediffusion Television (RTV) as a contracted artist, and the following year, 1970, formally signed with TVB. Recognized by producer 蔡和平, he appeared on programs including "歡樂今宵," where he sang, performed comedy sketches, delivered live advertisements, and impersonated numerous Chinese and foreign celebrities. TVB was Cheng's management company from 1970 to 1983, 1987 to 1996, and 2002 to 2012. In 1971, "風行唱片" released Cheng's debut solo album, "愛人結婚了," and he starred in his first television drama, "冷暖親情"; that year, he was named one of the "十大電視明星" by "華僑晚報," an honor he again received for 1974 and each year from 1976 to 1981, and he was also selected for the "十大歌星金駱駝獎," organized by the same newspaper, for 1976, 1978, and 1980.
