Ah NiuAh Niu

Ah Niu, whose birth name is 陳慶祥, is a Malaysian male singer-songwriter, actor, and director born in Butterworth, Penang, on August 31, 1976. He attended 北海勵華學校, Chung Ling Butterworth High School, and INTI College in Kuala Lumpur.

In 1996, Ah Niu won the 青螺组 (secondary school division) championship at the second Lee Cooper 海螺新韵奖 finals with his own composition "阿牛和阿花的故事" and also received the Best Arrangement Award. His debut album, "城市藍天," was released in 1997 and included "對面的女孩看過來."

Ah Niu recalled that "對面的女孩看過來" was probably written in 1997, when he was still in college, and that he hummed the melody spontaneously after seeing a girl across from his dormitory. Richie Jen later included the song on a single and released it in Taiwan, and also selected it as the lead track for an album. Discussing his creative direction, Ah Niu said that he had long and repeatedly wondered what kind of songs he should write before deciding, "Just write happy songs; having fun matters most," and no longer gave excessive thought to whether they were commercial.
