About the artist
Alien Huang was a Taiwanese male singer, actor, and host born in Beitou District, Taipei, on November 28, 1983. While in school, he applied to Hwa Kang Arts School and was admitted to its drama department with the highest score. In 2001, while still in high school, he took part in casting training for the film "藍色大門"; although he did not appear in the film, a talent agent discovered him through the process, and he entered show business at age 18.
Alien Huang's experience with music groups began after he hosted "下課花路米": in 2002, he hosted the program under the name "小升" and later formed the three-member boy group HC3 with 陳柏霖 and 遠藤章造, releasing "我們是朋友" as their debut single; the group disbanded soon afterward. While Huang was appearing in an idol drama in 2003, director 鈕承澤 named his character "小鬼," which subsequently became Huang's nickname; Huang then formed "丸子" with 韓宜邦 and 林埈永, actors from "半成年之搞個自由式." After releasing the album "關東煮," "丸子" disbanded in 2005, and Huang went on to form the band Speedball, recording independently and performing on the street.
Alien Huang's solo music career began with singles in 2008: his debut solo single, "鬼混," was included with the deluxe edition of an illustrated book. In 2009, he released his debut solo EP, "不屑," and debut solo album, "Love Hero 愛&英雄."
His second solo album, "黑心傷品," was released in 2011; "夜王 G·host 黃鴻升2012亞洲巡迴演唱會" began on November 28, 2012; in 2013, he released his third solo album, "超有感," and held new-song performances in Taipei, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
In 2014, Alien Huang appeared in the television drama "巷弄裡的那家書店," writing both lyrics and music for the first time for the insert song "自以為我以為" and performing the ending theme "有感情歌." He released his fourth solo album, "ALIEN," in 2015 and his fifth, "人類HUMAN," in 2018. Beginning in 2019, he released a series of singles including "Plan B," and on October 13, 2019, held a concert of the same name, "Plan B," at Clapper Studio in Taipei's Syntrend Creative Park.
In 2004, Alien Huang appeared in the film "夢遊夏威夷" as one of its leads; in 2010, he took his first leading role in a television drama, appearing in "流氓校長"; he starred in the film "陣頭" in 2012 and "角頭" in 2015.
Alien Huang's hosting career extended from 2002's "下課花路米" into variety television. In 2006, he became a host of "娛樂百分百," rotating with Show Lo, 簡愷樂, 威廉, 敖犬, and others; for the program, he was nominated for the Variety Program Host award at the 50th Golden Bell Awards in 2015. In 2018, he joined "綜藝玩很大" as a permanent team captain; in 2019, he, 吳宗憲, and KID were jointly nominated for the Educational and Reality Program Host award at the 54th Golden Bell Awards.
Alien Huang published his first entirely self-created illustrated book, "搞什麼鬼？," in 2007 and released a second, "鬼怒穿," in 2008; that same year, he founded the clothing brand Alien Evolution Studio (AES). He opened a store in Taipei in 2009; from February 16 to March 1, 2020, he held the solo art exhibition "Dear papa."
Alien Huang died on September 16, 2020, at the age of 36. On October 6, 2020, Rock Records held the memorial concert "地球上最浪漫的演唱會" at Legacy in Huashan, Taipei, hosted by 吳宗憲 and KID. In 2021, Huang, 吳宗憲, and KID were again nominated for the Educational and Reality Program Host award at the 56th Golden Bell Awards.
