About the artist
Ashin is a Taiwanese male singer-songwriter and music producer whose birth name is 陳信宏. He was born on December 6, 1975, in Beitou District, Taipei. During his school years, he attended the athletics program at Beitou Elementary School, Beitou Junior High School, and the fine arts program at the Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University. At the affiliated high school, Ashin and Monster served respectively as president of the guitar club in the first and second semesters of the same school year, and Ashin also chaired the graduating students' association. He later studied in the Department of Interior Design at Shih Chien University and organized the second and third Northern Taiwan University Rock Leagues.
In Mayday, Ashin serves as lead vocalist and songwriter and is also one of the founders of B'in Music. Ashin wrote all the music and lyrics for Mayday's first three albums and subsequently remained chiefly responsible for lyrics while also contributing compositions. His work includes not only Mandarin pop songs but also Taiwanese-language songs. Ashin has also written under pen names including Ashine, 伍岳凌, and 月神夜.
Awards and nominations for Ashin's own songwriting span several stages of his career. In November 2006, the title song of the film "盛夏光年" earned him a nomination for Best Original Film Song at the 43rd Golden Horse Awards. In 2009, "我心中尚未崩壞的地方" and "如煙" from Mayday's album "後青春期的詩" earned Ashin a Best Lyricist nomination at the 20th Golden Melody Awards; in 2017, he won Best Lyricist at the 28th Golden Melody Awards for "成名在望" from "自傳."
Beyond music, Ashin has also taken part in brand management and public cultural affairs. In 2007, he co-founded the clothing brand StayReal with his high school classmate and illustrator 不二良. In August 2012, he became a director of the fifth board of the Public Television Service Foundation and stepped down in 2016.
Performance and voice work form another strand of his career: in 2001, Ashin voiced the uncle and the young man in the musical romance "企求"; in 2010, he made a cameo as a judge in the film "近在咫尺"; in 2013, he played the dark knight in the short film "黑暗騎士"; and in 2014, he provided the singing voice for the character 周書宇 in "A咖的路."
Ashin later moved into visual-media production as well. In 2022, he served as a producer for the first time on the short film "家家," co-producing it with 廖慶松; the film was directed by 姚國禎 and starred Rene Liu.
Ashin's collaborative performances continued across different projects. A performance record from B'in Music states that Ashin appeared as a guest and sang "後來的我們" and "笑忘歌" as duets. On December 19, 2025, Ashin, 言承旭, 吳建豪, and 周渝民 held four performances of "F.FOREVER恆星之城巡迴演唱會" in Shanghai.
