About the artist

Christine Hsu is a Taiwanese female singer, music producer, musical-theater actress, and radio host, born in Taichung County on November 21, 1963, who studied under 李泰祥. Her musical training began in childhood with piano, flute, and harp, and she joined drum and music ensembles at school; at age eight, she became a principal singer in the Taipei Children's Choir and performed with it in various places.

Christine Hsu recalled in an interview that she moved from Taichung to Taipei at fifteen, sang Western pop songs for two hours each day at the Taipei Shangri-La Hotel, and chose to study in the classical music program at Hwa Kang Arts School.

Discussing her entry into Mandopop, Christine Hsu recalled in the same interview that she did not encounter Mandopop until age eighteen, when she teamed with Kay Huang to compete in the Golden Rhyme Awards and won an award, gradually entering the field thereafter. Her collaboration with 李泰祥 began with a telephone call: after hearing Hsu's voice in a recording studio, he called to invite her to sing at the "傳統與展望" concert, and she immediately agreed.
