Chuang Chuan-YingChuang Chuan-Ying

Chuang Chuan-Ying was born on February 28, 1985, and is the lead vocalist of the Taiwanese band katncandix2. She is nicknamed 小球. Chuang Chuan-Ying studied in the Department of English and American Literature at Aletheia University but later left without graduating.

katncandix2 originated from an on-campus singing competition. While studying at Aletheia University, Chuang Chuan-Ying entered her department's karaoke contest and was discovered by judge 沈聖哲. After the competition, 沈聖哲 contacted her, and the two continued exchanging ideas about music. They earned street-performer licenses together and began performing on the streets of Taipei.

Accounts differ on the band's subsequent status: ETtoday says it announced its breakup in 2013, while another source says the band announced a temporary hiatus. What is certain is that Chuang Chuan-Ying subsequently shifted from band vocalist to solo artist. During the hiatus, she released solo music, published books, and appeared in films and stage plays. Looking back on the early days of her solo career, Chuang Chuan-Ying admitted, "Several times I wanted to quit and get a part-time job. I didn't want to stay in this line of work."
