About the artist
Connie Talbot, a British singer whose full name is Connie Victoria Elizabeth Talbot, was born on November 20, 2000; the Chinese Wikipedia states that she was born in Streetly, Walsall, West Midlands. In 2007, Talbot competed in the first season of the reality television show "Britain's Got Talent," and her first-round performance received international media coverage; she advanced from the semifinal with Michael Jackson's "Ben" and reached the final, where she sang "Over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz" and finished as runner-up to Paul Potts in the public telephone vote, at the age of six. Judge Simon Cowell initially agreed to sign Talbot to Sony BMG, but after she recorded two songs in London, the record company withdrew from the deal.
In October 2007, Talbot signed with Rainbow Recording Company and released her debut album, "Over the Rainbow" (also known in Chinese as "彩虹星光"), that same year. Guinness World Records states that the album entered the UK Albums Chart on December 8, 2007, when Talbot had just turned seven years and 18 days old, making her the youngest artist to enter the chart. Avex Taiwan's album description states that the album sold more than 100,000 copies in the United Kingdom and was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). From April to May 2008, Talbot promoted "Over the Rainbow" in Asia, traveling to South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore before returning to the United Kingdom in late May; on May 9, she appeared as a special guest on the third season of Taiwan's "超級星光大道" and sang "I Will Always Love You." The album was reissued that June, with three new songs replacing the original Christmas-themed tracks, and its first single was "Three Little Birds"; the album "Connie Talbot's Christmas Album" was also released that year.
In 2009, Talbot's third album, "Connie Talbot's Holiday Magic," was released in the United States on October 20 and in the United Kingdom on November 30; the U.S. edition was dedicated to the Toys for Tots campaign, for which Talbot was appointed a child ambassador. In 2010, Talbot opened a special concert celebrating South Korea's hosting of the Group of Twenty (G20) summit; during the 2011 Lunar New Year, she performed on a program broadcast by China's national television network. In November 2011, Talbot released the single "Beautiful World" on iTunes, a song she had written at age seven; the album "Beautiful World" followed in 2012. In October 2013, Talbot sang the theme song for the newly released video game "Rain" and appeared as a special guest at an African Children's Choir concert in Walsall, England, where it was announced that she would serve as an ambassador for the choir and that a school would be named after her. In late April 2014, Talbot held two concerts in Osan and Seoul, South Korea; in November, she released the five-track EP "Gravity," featuring the original songs "Gravity" and "Inner Beauty," the latter also appearing in an instrumental acoustic version.
In 2016, Talbot released the album "Matters to Me." In April 2019, she collaborated with Boyce Avenue on a cover of the Jonas Brothers' "Sucker"; on August 31, she appeared on "Britain's Got Talent: The Champions" and performed the original song "Never Give Up on Us," which was released the same day. On January 27, 2020, Talbot competed on "America's Got Talent: The Champions," accompanying herself on piano as she sang the original song "I Would." On August 25, 2023, she released the EP "Growing Pains," which also included "Just a Broken Heart" and "Roses"; on May 15, 2026, she independently released the EP "Original" as both a digital download and a CD.
