Cyndi Chaw is a Taiwanese female singer and actress born on May 19, 1967. She joined the Taipei Christian Children's Choir in first grade to study voice and began singing cartoon songs in second grade. Her early recordings included chorus songs such as "無敵鐵金剛" and "科學小飛俠"; in 1977, she sang solo on the theme song for the Taiwan Television premiere version of "小天使."
Cyndi Chaw began her experience as a resident singer in folk-music restaurants. After starting this work in 1984, she sang "無奈" with 鈕大可. She graduated from the business correspondence program at Chihlee Junior College of Commerce in 1988 and then joined 全美唱片. Her first album was "多說一些話," which included "越飛越高."
Cyndi Chaw moved to Rock Records in 1993, where songs she worked on with producer Lee Cheng-Fan included "求婚" and "最浪漫的事." She moved to PolyGram in 1996 and then Sony BMG in 2000, withdrawing from the music scene after releasing one album.
Stage performance formed part of Cyndi Chaw's work beyond singing. In 1996, she joined Performance Workshop's "京劇啟示錄," making her stage-play debut in the leading female role and studying Peking opera vocal techniques and movement for the production. She appeared in a stage play for the second time in 2002, playing the blind female lead in Godot Theatre Company's musical "城市之光" opposite Eric Moo as a tramp.
Radio was also part of Cyndi Chaw's work. In 1996, she hosted "小華當家" on Tainan's 府城電台, and in 2001 she was invited to host "音樂天使" on National Radio in Taichung.
Cyndi Chaw also acted in film and television. In 2009, she played the female lead in Da Ai Drama's "幸福的起點" and attended meet-and-greet events for the drama in Taipei and Taichung; in 2017, she played "the young aunt" in the film "52 Hz I Love You."
Cyndi Chaw's live performances included overseas events and solo ticketed concerts. In 1997, she traveled to Los Angeles for a small concert and autograph session at the Overseas Chinese Culture Center; on December 26, 1998, she and Richie Jen performed a Christmas concert together at the MIRAGE hotel in Las Vegas. She held her first solo concert in 2007, while 2012's "Legacy天堂" was her first solo ticketed concert. On March 27, 2021, Chaw and 林俊逸 held the "華逸登場" concert at the Taipei International Convention Center.
After returning to recording, Cyndi Chaw self-financed an album in 2013 and held the large-scale "趙詠華簡單的幸福" concert. In 2021, she rearranged 蔡藍欽's work "這個世界" and released it as a digital single; in 2024, she sang "暖流," the opening theme for the series "不如海邊吹吹風."
Benefit performances also formed part of Cyndi Chaw's public activities. In 2014 and 2015, she held fundraising benefit shows in two consecutive years for the geriatric medical building at Saint Mary's Hospital Luodong; the 2014 song "我們都一樣" was used as the theme for the "有愛的地方就有天堂" charity concert.
