About the artist
Dear Jane is a band from Hong Kong made up of vocalist 黃天翱 (Tim), guitarist 翁厚樑 (Howie), bassist 伍漢邦 (Jackal) and drummer 黎俊華 (Nice). The band's name comes from the English expression “Dear John letter” (a breakup letter).
Dear Jane started out as a punk rock band. In 2006 it debuted and released its first album, “100”, and in 2009 it released the album “XOXO” through Music Nation. After the release of “XOXO”, guitarist Adam left and the band went through a period as a trio, with Jackal switching from drums to bass and Howie from bass to guitar. Drummer Nice joined later and formally signed with the band during the “Yellow Fever” period.
After moving to Warner Music, Dear Jane released the EP “Gamma” in 2011 and the EP “Yellow Fever” in 2012. The 2016 album “101” includes “哪裡只得我共你”, “只知感覺失了蹤” and “經過一些秋與冬”, three songs known collectively as the “modern love trilogy” (現代愛情三部曲). In March 2020, the band released “銀河修理員”, followed in December by the album “Limerence”; the music video for “銀河修理員” ranked first in “YouTube 香港 2020 十大熱門音樂影片” (YouTube Hong Kong's top 10 music videos of 2020).
At the Ultimate Song Chart Awards (叱咤樂壇流行榜頒獎典禮), Dear Jane won the gold award for best group (叱咤樂壇組合) for 2019, 2020, 2023 and 2024; for 2020, “Limerence” won the top record award (叱咤樂壇至尊唱片大獎), and “銀河修理員” placed second in the professionally recommended top ten (專業推介叱咤十大). At “第46屆十大中文金曲” (the 46th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Awards), held on June 2, 2025, Dear Jane won the gold award for best band/group; “多謝你自己”, composed by Howie, won a Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs award; and Howie also won the silver CASH Best Singer-Songwriter award. In “新城勁爆頒獎禮2025” (Metro Radio Hit Awards 2025), announced on December 27, Dear Jane won the gold award for band. At “2025年度叱咤樂壇流行榜頒獎典禮”, held on January 1, 2026, “你流淚所以我流淚”, composed by Howie, placed seventh in the professionally recommended top ten; at “第47屆十大中文金曲”, held on April 24 that year, the song won a Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs award, and Dear Jane again won the gold award for best band/group.
In September 2016, Dear Jane played two shows of “哪裡只得我共你 LIVE 2016” at Star Hall, KITEC. In March 2019, the band held its first concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, “Yours Sincerely Live 2019”. From September 20 to 25, 2021, “Dear Jane Pendulum Tour 2021” ran for five shows at the Coliseum on a four-sided stage, and the live recording “Pendulum Tour 2021 Live” was released the same year. In November 2022, Dear Jane held its first outdoor concert, “Dear Jane What's Happening Live 2022”, at 竹翠公園 in the West Kowloon Cultural District.
On September 28 and 29, 2024, Dear Jane played two shows of “Dear Jane Live at The Londoner” at The Londoner Arena in Macau. From May 11 to 14, 2025, “Dearest Dear Jane Live 2025” ran for four shows at the Hong Kong Coliseum, the third time Dear Jane had held concerts there. The live recording of these concerts was released in 2026 as a live album of the same name, with 50 tracks; the concert video was released as a two-disc Blu-ray containing 43 pieces from the shows, and a Blu-ray signing event was held on January 24, 2026. The same year, Dear Jane began its 20th-anniversary overseas tour at The Star Event Centre in Sydney, the band's first concert in Australia.
