About the artist

Dong Fang 10 Girls Band is a women's Chinese traditional-music ensemble from Mainland China, jointly created by Taiwan's 榮星國際傳媒 and 北京金海方舟文化发展有限公司. A January 2005 report in "竞报" records that the group comprised 10 performers under the age of 21, that members studied at institutions including the Central Conservatory of Music and the China Conservatory of Music, and that it combined Chinese instruments such as the erhu and guzheng.

The group released its first album, "光芒", which incorporates Latin and jazz styles. The work credits 陈军 as producer. "光芒" was issued by 榮星, with a release date of August 31, 2004, and a release type of Mandarin / DVD.

Nippon Crown issued the group's works under the name "東方女子楽坊C-gal". Nippon Crown's artist profile (page undated) describes the group as a nine-member formation with an average age of 21, using Chinese traditional instruments including the erhu, Chinese pipa, dizi, zheng, and yangqin. The company's artist profile explains that the name "C-gal" carries both the sense of a "gal" from China and that of the English word "seagull".
