About the artist
Hins Cheung is a male singer, born in Guangzhou in 1981, active in the Hong Kong music scene. Ancestral home is Beijing; grew up and debuted in Guangzhou, and regards Guangzhou as a second hometown. Hins Cheung received training in Peking opera, piano and violin from age four. In secondary school once signed a record contract with a company run by Hong Kong people, holding thirty thousand yuan; the other party walked away a week after signing. Before becoming a singer, absorbed Cantonese songs in teahouse-style karaoke in Guangzhou.
In 2001 released the debut disc "Hins'First" in Guangzhou.
In 2002 陳少寶 signed Hins Cheung in one go, and the same batch also included 麥浚龍 and 余文樂; Hins Cheung said they had not met 陳少寶 before signing, and first met only at the signing press conference. The same year came to Hong Kong to develop, joined Universal Records, and in Hong Kong released "Hins My Way".
In March 2003 Universal Music issued "My Way", including "斷點".
The 2004 "孤單公園" was composed and arranged by Hins Cheung, with lyrics by 因葵, in an R&B ballad style.
In March 2006 released the Mandarin album "春夏秋冬", and in October of the same year the first brand-new Cantonese album "笑忘書". In August 2007 released the Cantonese album "酷愛", including "酷愛", "迷失表參道" and "我的天". Hins Cheung said that in the seventh year after debut, a concert was held for the first time at Guangzhou Gymnasium, and at the time there was a feeling of returning home in glory.
In July 2008 Universal issued the Cantonese album "Urban Emotions". "Hate That I Love You" was originally a duet by Rihanna and Ne-Yo, and later Rihanna and Hins Cheung sang Mandarin and Cantonese versions.
The record company also issued for Hins Cheung "張敬軒 Unplugged第1樂章音樂會" Live 2CD, mixed by 關維麟.
When renewing with Universal the fee reached eight figures, and the company presented a golden multi-child Buddha. Later admitted only one album remained on the Universal contract, said other companies had made contact but did not want to think about it; also said there had been some misunderstanding with Universal but no unpleasantness, and that 黃劍濤 had been very good. In 2013 joined Emperor.
Hins Cheung has said of not being someone on a singing-and-dancing-and-stripping path, preferring to spend time on work.
Invested fifty million yuan to build a recording studio in Guangzhou; four buildings total 38,000 square feet, and one room of 18,000 square feet is enough for an orchestra. Said the doomsday talk of December 21, 2012 prompted the decision to make a studio; also admitted that being busy with the Guangzhou studio had delayed on-camera work. Opening the studio was not only for future retirement; the greatest hope was to train a new generation of music-production talent.
After the studio opened, Alan Tam and George Lam used the rooms in succession to make new discs; when George Lam recorded in Guangzhou, Hins Cheung personally hosted, and 孙楠 also booked the studio.
Runs the music brand FITTO, saying the brand carries the era of absorbing Cantonese songs in Guangzhou before becoming a singer; the name Fitto Records continues 飛圖, the predecessor of Emperor, and use was allowed after applying to the boss. The in-house brand's first album has seventeen tracks, supervised by Hins Cheung.
Established the "張敬軒慈善基金" to help disadvantaged groups, and in 2010 received "Guangzhou Ten Outstanding Young Persons" at the 11th Guangzhou Outstanding Youth selection. Also attended the launch of an Emperor Securities charity sale with Joey Yung, the two specially designing two T-shirt styles for sale.
In May 2018 Universal issued the Cantonese album "Dahlia II", whose concept is "Recycle", selecting ten works with lyrics by Wyman Wong.
On January 7, 2021 released the double CD "The Brightest Darkness". "張敬軒 X 香港中樂團盛樂演唱會" ran eight consecutive shows; the first was at the Hong Kong Coliseum in November 2020, and reports said Hins Cheung was the first singer to step back onto the Coliseum stage after more than a year. A three-Blu-ray plus double-CD edition of that concert was released on November 26, 2021. On August 4, 2022 "Senses Inherited" regular edition was released, on March 20, 2023 "The Next 20 Hins Live in Hong Kong" double Blu-ray plus three CDs, and on January 24, 2025 "The Prime Classics 張敬軒倫敦演唱會" double Blu-ray set.
Six consecutive "HINSIDEOUT張敬軒演唱會" shows opened at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Also held an "Hinsideout" concert at Genting, Malaysia.
