About the artist

Jay Fung, a Hong Kong male singer-songwriter, was born in Hong Kong on February 22, 1988, and at a year and a half moved with the family to Edmonton, Canada. Jay Fung attended Archbishop MacDonald High School, loved singing from childhood, began teaching himself the guitar at 13, and began writing songs at 17.

In 2008 Jay Fung represented the Americas division at "第十三届CCTV青年歌手電視大奬賽", held in Beijing. After graduating from the marketing department of the University of Alberta, Jay Fung returned to Hong Kong for the TVB talent show "超級巨聲3". During the 2011 contest Jay Fung never entered the elimination zone, and in the final for first and second place chose the original song "Knowing Right From Wrong", finishing second. After the contest Jay Fung formally signed with TVB and became a contract artist.

In 2012 Jay Fung joined Music Plus Label, under Emperor Entertainment Group, and in November the same year released a first album, "今天開始", containing ten songs, the whole album produced by 恭碩良. Of these, "想想想" was composed by the American composer Josh Kear, and Jay Fung took part in writing six of the songs. After the album came out, Jay Fung received newcomer awards at the award ceremonies from the end of 2012 into early 2013. In May 2013 Jay Fung went to mainland China for "中國夢之聲". At the Shanghai audition Jay Fung sang "This Love" with 羅孝勇 and played and sang "普通朋友", passed with all four judges in agreement, and in the end reached the national top 42. On October 25, 2013, the second album "值得愛" was released, again produced throughout by 恭碩良 and 倪凱民, and the second lead single "世界劇團" became Jay Fung's first four-station chart-topper. On September 12, 2014, the third album "The In-Between" was released. All eight songs were composed by Jay Fung, and production passed to Edward Chan and 廖志華. Jay Fung also appeared for the first time in the musical "Musilove世人樂章", giving six shows in a row at Hong Kong City Hall Theatre.
