About the artist
Jody Chiang is a Taiwan female singer; her birth name is 江淑惠, and she was born in Xikou Township, Chiayi. The childhood household was poor; the family moved north and settled in Beitou, learned the Japanese song "愛你入骨" and began singing the circuit. United Daily News's 報時光 records that she began singing at nine, while Jody Chiang herself recalled at a 2015 press conference that she was ten. With younger sister 江淑娜 sang the circuit between hotels and wine houses, from early on sang Tamsui and Sanchong, and after graduating from elementary school at fifteen took up residencies at nightclubs, in the same period as 洪榮宏 and 鄭進一. Music critic 王祖壽 wrote "苦情姊妹花" for the sisters Jody Chiang and 江淑娜.
On one occasion, because 鄭進一 had taken leave, Jody Chiang went on stage at short notice and was spotted by a record company. In 1981 released a first Japanese album "東京假期" under the birth name 江淑惠. Singer 鄭怡 recalled that in 1981, at 仙堡西餐廳 in Taichung, 鄭怡 shared a bill with 江淑惠 who had not yet debuted; at that time 沈文程 was in residency and "心事誰人知" had not yet been released. UDN summarized the singing path as: the early debut years mainly tragic songs, matched with a plaintive voice, and from the late 1990s changed to warmth, unadorned. When 報時光 discussed the vocal style and Minnan accent, 報時光 named "你著忍耐", "惜別的海岸", "酒後的心聲", "落雨聲" and "家後".
