Hong Kong female singer. In 1999 released the first EP "EP Joey". In 2000 held a first solo concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, and won the Ultimate Song Chart Female Singer Gold Award for 2003.

Joey Yung is a Hong Kong female singer. Parents divorced; Joey Yung lived with mother 余金鳳 and a younger brother.
In 1995 entered the "Big Echo 卡拉 OK 大赛", won a gold award with a cover, and obtained a singer contract with 正東唱片; the following year released the first single "第一次我想醉". According to 明報周刊, after the single came out, 正東 executive 黃柏高 terminated the contract on the grounds of being "not that pretty". Thereafter, to ease the mother's financial burden, Joey Yung worked as a clerk and also helped the mother run a fashion shop; through a former 正東 colleague, moved to 嘉音唱片, and after 嘉音 closed was dropped again.
In 1998, 羅文 brought Joey Yung into 飛圖唱片. It was the time of the financial storm; 飛圖 artists left one after another, and Joey Yung stayed.
羅文 once took Joey Yung to perform at 羅文's own concerts. For this, the two spent several weeks practising "問誰領風騷" and "奮鬥" at 羅文's home, every day rain or shine. 羅文 later proposed formally taking Joey Yung as a pupil; Joey Yung hesitated for lack of confidence, and the matter never came to pass.
In 1999, Joey Yung released the first EP "EP Joey", which stayed on the IFPI record-sales chart for 23 consecutive weeks. Years later, listening back to "逃避你", Joey Yung said the voice then was relatively hoarse and dark, with little technique.
On November 19, 2000, Joey Yung held a first solo concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, "容祖兒美麗在望慈善演唱會", and won the Ultimate Song Chart Female Singer Bronze Award for 2000.
In the first half of 2001 the vocal cords became inflamed; Joey Yung once thought the singing career would end there, then recovered after treatment; the same year appeared in the films "百分百感覺II", "我的野蠻同學" and "蘋果咬一口". Joey Yung has spoken of a change in how the voice is used: later learning to protect the voice, using the dantian more, and training the vocal cords as muscle. The same year also held a first ticketed solo concert of three consecutive shows at the Hong Kong Coliseum, and released the first greatest-hits album "喜歡祖兒", with the lead song "痛愛".
In 2003 released the song "我的驕傲". Won the 2003 Jade Solid Gold Most Popular Female Singer, Ultimate Song Chart Female Singer Gold Award, Ultimate Song Chart My Favourite Female Singer, and the Four Stations Joint Media Award. The contemporary work "心淡" was written by 徐繼宗; according to 徐繼宗, a folk-style guitar demo was finished in about two hours.
The lead song "小小" on the 2007 Mandarin album was composed by Jay Chou with lyrics by 方文山. On January 27 of the same year the Cantonese album "Close Up" was released.
On May 17, 2008 "STAR LIGHT演唱會08" was released, and on October 6 the Cantonese album "In Motion" CD+DVD. On May 4, 2009 "A Time for Us" was released, and on August 21 "很忙". On February 26, 2010 "Joeyten EP 2010 10th Anniversary" was released, on July 11 the double DVD "新城容祖兒 我的女皇音樂會", and on November 15 "空港". On October 17, 2011 "Joey & Joey" was released, and on August 15, 2013 "小日子".
"東京人壽" is Joey Yung's first composition, made with Dear Jane guitarist Howie, and Joey Yung often went to the other side's band room to hum tunes.
At the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation for 2013, Joey Yung won the Ultimate Song Chart Female Singer Gold Award; Oriental Daily News called this the ninth time. At the same event, with "天窗" she placed seventh on the Ultimate Top Ten.
According to Oriental Daily News, in 2014 Joey Yung accompanied her mother through cancer treatment and did not release another new song until the end of the year.
Won the Ultimate Song Chart Female Singer Gold Award for 2016; Oriental Daily News called this the eleventh time receiving that award.
At the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation for 2018, Joey Yung with "心之科學" won the Ultimate Song Chart Supreme Song Award for the first time.
Stage-concept creation for the 2019 "Pretty Crazy演唱會" was led by stage designer Es Devlin, whom Joey Yung and the team invited.
In 2024 released the radio single "九秒九", a collaboration between Wyman Wong and 湯令山; the song continues the previous year's "緊急聯絡人", retold from the woman's point of view.
In 2013 Joey Yung supported Oxfam's Rice Selling Campaign as an Oxfam ambassador; Oxfam said this was her third year serving as ambassador. Joey Yung had also visited poor rural villages in Yunnan with Oxfam colleagues. In 2015 established the Joey Yung Charitable Foundation. Also, together with the Emperor Charitable Foundation, donated one hundred thousand dollars to help sick children; the organisers planned to use the donation to build "祖儿乐园"; and attended the launch of an Emperor Securities charity sale with Hins Cheung, the two specially designing two T-shirt styles for sale; at the event a painting of a steed sold for three hundred thousand Hong Kong dollars, with proceeds going to 生命小戰士會 and the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association.
The Macau "Eternity演唱會" began on April 1, 2023, spanned three years, and ran 30 shows, with the final show on May 18, 2025. On May 3, 2026, "25+英皇群星演唱會" was held at the Kai Tak Main Stadium, with Joey Yung appearing as the finale.
