About the artist
Julian Cheung is a Hong Kong male singer and actor, stage name Chilam, born August 27, 1971.
Julian Cheung spent most of childhood in Hong Kong, at a boys' Catholic primary school. In the early years Julian Cheung lived on Marble Road, North Point, Hong Kong Island, and in primary school attended Pun U Association Wah Yan Primary School (Primary 6 in 1984). Because of being absorbed in football, Julian Cheung could not go straight up to the linked secondary school and was sent to Lingnan Secondary School (Form 4 in 1987). At school Julian Cheung was on the school football team, and in Form 2 and Form 3 entered the school's singing contests.
Julian Cheung's maternal uncle 曹查理 is a Hong Kong actor. Mother 曹珍妮 was Miss Exhibition 1962 in Hong Kong. The maternal grandfather was a soldier. In 1984 the parents divorced. In 1987, while in Form 4, Julian Cheung emigrated to Australia with his father and attended Pendle Hill High School in Sydney. In between, the parents remarried in 1986 and later divorced again.
In 1990, just after finishing secondary school and planning to enter a university in Australia, but Julian Cheung went back to Hong Kong in the summer holiday to see family, met an entertainment manager at a party, and was introduced to a record company for a vocal test. That year Julian Cheung was nineteen, and during the stay in Hong Kong also met again cousin and childhood playmate 上山安娜.
In 1991 the record company Fitto released a first single sung with 許秋怡, "現代愛情故事". The English Wikipedia records that the single was a great success, that Julian Cheung became famous overnight from it, and that Julian Cheung was the artist with the highest sales for a first album in IFPI's count. The duet album of the same name was released in November 1991, and was later reissued on the EMI and Warner Music labels. In January the next year the two received "叱咤樂壇新力軍組合金獎" at Commercial Radio's 1991 Ultimate Song Chart Awards.
Julian Cheung signed with TVB and starred in a first drama, Peak of Passion, which aired in 1992. The Chinese Wikipedia records that the albums released from 1994 to 1997 were well received, and that "Chilam" (October 1994), "天地男兒超級精選" (March 1996) and "我也喜歡你" (March 1997) reached platinum. "我也喜歡你" was the first time Julian Cheung took a four-station number-one song, and it was also a television commercial song for a popular brand of the time.

The Chinese Wikipedia records that the singing career then entered a stall, that the album "孩子先生" released in April 1999 did not meet expectations, and that playing "Man Cho (Brother Cho)" in the 2000 TVB drama "十月初五的月光" was very popular and became one of the signature roles, winning "my favourite television role of the year" and "my favourite partner of the year (drama section)". The drama was played by Julian Cheung with 佘詩曼 (Charmaine Sheh). The ratings peak reached 40 points, and the English Wikipedia calls it a great success. The same year a new album, "十指緊扣", came out.
In 2003 "愛與夢 新曲+精選" came out. The lead song "相愛無夢" is the theme of the drama "西關大少". For several years after that music releases paused, and the focus was films. The same year, as Yeung Kwong in Take My Word For It, Julian Cheung again won "my favourite television role". In 2004 Julian Cheung worked again with 佘詩曼 in Point of No Return, and the two won best on-screen couple at the 2005 Malaysia Astro awards.
On February 8, 2001 Julian Cheung and 袁詠儀 secretly registered their marriage in San Francisco, California. In 2006 袁詠儀 gave birth to son 張慕童 (nickname 魔童) at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital.
In 2009 Julian Cheung returned to the Hong Kong scene and signed with the record company Neway Star. The Chinese Wikipedia records that the new song "妳太善良" was well received after going to radio, and that the new disc "I Am Chilam" came out afterwards. At the end of the same year the TVB series "魚躍在花見" was shot. It aired in February 2011 and was third in the year's ratings. On March 27, 2011 Julian Cheung held a first solo concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, named I Am An Alien.

In September the same year Julian Cheung announced signing with a company under 蕭定一, and the record company moved to Star Entertainment.
From July 6 to 8, 2014 the first stop of "Crazy Hours 巡迴演唱會" was held at the Hong Kong Coliseum. It was the second solo concert, and used a four-sided stage.
Julian Cheung is also a member of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. In the 2012–2013 racing season Julian Cheung, with 陳汝安, Aaron Kwok and 周文曦, jointly owned a new horse. The name was first "愛河", later changed to "愛將", and retirement was announced at the start of October 2014.

The manager's company issued a statement on September 21 saying Julian Cheung was invited on September 19 to assist the inquiry. The statement also said that advertisements and stills were indeed shot for JPEX in March 2022, but because the Securities and Futures Commission had put JPEX on the "list of unlicensed companies and suspicious websites", the cooperation had ended in September 2022.
