About the artist
Kay Tse, a Hong Kong female singer, was born on March 13, 1977. In 1994, after taking the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, Kay Tse entered the Open University of Hong Kong to study translation and linguistics. In 2002 Kay Tse entered the Faculty of Arts of the University of Hong Kong, majoring in American studies, and graduated in 2005. At the University of Hong Kong singing contest for the 2002–2003 academic year, Kay Tse covered Stefanie Sun's "相信" and was noticed by 周博賢 (Adrian), a music producer and one of the judges, and 陳哲廬 (Jerald Chan), and was invited to join Ban Ban Music. On January 5, 2005, the first song sent to the radio stations, "姿色份子", was released, and in April of the same year Kay Tse formally became a Hong Kong female singer. Early work mostly took the livelihood of Hong Kong society as its subject, satirising the ills of the time and taking up topics of the day. Kay Tse's main collaborator is 周博賢, a full-time music creator in Hong Kong, and most of the songs at the start of the career had both music and words done by 周博賢. In the year of the debut Kay Tse won a 叱咤生力軍銅獎 and an RTHK newcomer merit award.
In 2006 Kay Tse released the EP "Ksus2" and the album "Kay One", and with "愁人節" entered the Ultimate top ten at tenth place. On October 12 of the same year Kay Tse joined Cinepoly Records. This was a decision Kay Tse made together with the manager Sammy Haze and the music director 周博賢, on the condition of keeping a certain freedom to create. On January 5, 2007, the concert Kay Tse: The First Day Live was held at KITEC in Kowloon Bay, jointly presented by Ban Ban Music and Commercial Radio Hong Kong. The same month the album "The First Day" was released, and afterwards Kay Tse left the music scene for half a year, returning to work at the end of 2007. The Chinese Wikipedia records that the lyricist Wyman Wong said, at the Ultimate Song Chart Awards, that "囍帖街" is in fact not a love song but an inspirational song, meant to pass on a conservation message through a love story. Kay Tse also took part in the love trilogy planned by 麥浚龍 and Wyman Wong, and duetted with 麥浚龍 on "羅生門", singing of that romance from the woman's side.
