About the artist

Shine, a Hong Kong male duo, was formed in 2001 by 徐天佑 and 黃又南. 徐天佑, original name 徐文健, was born on May 16, 1983, attended 聖公會聖三一堂中學, and in Form 4, while waiting for a friend in Mong Kok, was found by 陳果 and invited to shoot an advertisement. 黃又南, original name 黃德謙, was born on November 2, 1983, attended 筲箕灣東官立中學, was introduced through friends to the director 陳果, and was later invited to appear in a film. Both were discovered by 陳果, first shot advertisements, and then formed the duo.

In 2001 黃又南 debuted in "香港有個荷里活", directed by 陳果, and the same year formed Shine with 徐天佑 and signed with EMI. The two were 18 then. Before the formal debut the company sent them to Japan for training. The Chinese Wikipedia records that they learned guitar, fitness and Japanese. In an interview with HK01, 黃又南 recalled that after finishing "香港有個荷里活" the two went to Japan with each other for training for about nine months to a year, learning Japanese, dance and even K-1 boxing. The group name comes from the English title of the film "Shine", which the two liked, and the record company also thought the name positive.
