WawaWawa

Wawa, whose real name is 金智娟, was born on October 4, 1964, and is a Taiwanese female singer, songwriter, and radio host. After graduating from the dance department at Hwa Kang Arts School, she joined 丘丘合唱團 as lead singer in 1981 and entered the music industry with the rock-influenced "就在今夜."

Wawa recorded three early albums during her time with 丘丘合唱團. The group released "就在今夜," "陌生的人," and "告別20歲" through Synco Records in 1982, 1983, and 1984, respectively. Members subsequently began military service one after another, and the group disbanded after the third album, prompting Wawa to go solo.

"就在今夜" reflected the rock orientation in Wawa's singing at the time. The title song uses an uninterrupted shouted vocal line spanning twelve bars, while "河堤上的傻瓜" and "為何夢見他" are love songs with fast and slow tempos, respectively.

After leaving the record industry, radio became another strand of Wawa's work. In 1996, she moved to Voice of Taipei and co-hosted "娃娃Special" with 徐哲緯 and 古勝中. Wawa later recalled that she worked as a radio host for about six years in total and once won a Golden Bell Award for her radio work.
