About the artist
Arrow Wei, a Taiwan female singer and songwriter. The Chinese Wikipedia records that Arrow Wei was born on May 14, 1990, in Taichung, began learning guitar in junior high, and during university worked part-time as a guitar teacher.
An interview in Blow writes that during university Arrow Wei sang residencies in many places and built up stage experience. The Chinese Wikipedia separately records that after graduation Arrow Wei sang residencies on the street and in restaurants for nearly seven years, and during that time began writing words and music. In that same interview Arrow Wei recalled that the first song, "是什麼奪走太陽", was written around the time of just graduating from university: after a long talk with a friend who had broken up, Arrow Wei kept wanting to do something more for the friend, and was afraid that doing too much would disturb the friend, and so wrote that feeling into a song. After that Arrow Wei kept writing, and also, as chances arose, entered singing contests.
While singing residencies, Arrow Wei worked with the musician 張閔翔 and raised production money by crowdfunding. In 2017 the two independently released Arrow Wei's first solo album of Arrow Wei's own writing, "是什麼奪走太陽", which came out on December 29. In April and July before that, Arrow Wei had already released the digital singles "是什麼奪走太陽" and "孤獨的森林".
In 2018 the two also held two ticketed concerts at Legacy in Taipei and Taichung. From March the same year Arrow Wei formed the band "Arrow Band" and gave a run of performances in the two forms of a singer with a guitar and a band. In Arrow Band, Arrow Wei is the lead singer and acoustic guitarist.
In March 2019 Arrow Wei started the fundraising plan for the album "魏嘉瑩 2.0". One performance arrangement listed on the flyingV project page was May 25 the same year at 三創展演空間, with a string ensemble, percussionists and Arrow Band, and with 阿龔 of Sodagreen as music director. On October 24 the same year the second album of original work, "夜空裡的光", was released.
In 2021 Arrow Wei released the album "你好嗎？". On September 30, 2022, the album "我很好" was released. On May 13, 2025, the album "你不必無時無刻維持完美的笑容" was released, and in September the same year the digital single "我要把眼淚當汽水" was released. With this song Arrow Wei was chosen as one of the top 100 artists of the year at the 21st KKBOX Music Awards.
Besides solo writing, Arrow Wei has also often released work with other musicians. Digital singles include "花香" (feat. 盧彥澤), "泡泡氣球島" (feat. 小球 莊鵑瑛), "飛" (feat. 鼓鼓), "時光從不溫柔" (feat. ELLA, Ella Chen) and "我不在意你曾經吻過誰" (feat. 郭靜). The mini-album "魏妮寫詩" (feat. 溫妮) is another, and Arrow Wei also worked with 鼓鼓 呂思緯 on "愛的方法".
