About

Panther Chan (Panther Chan), born on October 29, 1990, in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, is a singer-songwriter based in Hong Kong, China, known for her groundbreaking style. In 2009, she traveled to Hong Kong to participate in the first season of *Asia’s Got Talent*, where she placed fourth, marking her entry into the Hong Kong entertainment industry. After several years of relatively unremarkable development as a traditional commercial artist, Panther Chan chose to return to her roots as an independent musician to rediscover her own musical aesthetic.

In 2017, she formed the independent record label “Free Will” with local independent musicians, formally establishing her highly distinctive musical style. Panther Chan’s work is deeply influenced by Japanese pop rock (J-Rock) and anime soundtracks (Anisong), and her vocal prowess is exceptionally powerful; when performing heavy metal or technically demanding electronic pop, she is able to deliver a powerful metallic texture and explosive, raw vocal intensity. After signing with Warner Music Group (Warner Music HK), she not only retained absolute creative control over her songwriting but also gained access to top-tier industry resources.

In *Honesty* (2021) and subsequent singles (such as “Ordinary Star” and “Underclass”), Panther Chan extensively explored dystopian themes, self-redemption, and the struggles of social survival. In her arrangements, she incorporated intense electric guitar riffs, rapid synthesizer beats, and grand Japanese-style orchestral elements, creating a stark contrast to the gentle, urban-lyrical style prevalent among mainstream female singers in Hong Kong at the time. This intensely passionate and anime-inspired “2D rock” style sparked a phenomenon-level following among Hong Kong’s young audience.

In terms of live performances, Panther Chan’s concerts not only matched the high standards of rock concerts in sound engineering but also achieved an exceptional level of immersion through digital lighting and visual concepts. Music critics believe that Panther Chan’s rise marks the true establishment of diverse aesthetics in the Hong Kong music scene, Her discography has successfully shattered gender stereotypes, proving that local music infused with subcultural elements and hardcore rock has the full potential to reach the top of the highly commercialized mainstream digital streaming market.
