About

He Guang (He Guang, full name He Guang Entertainment Co., Ltd. / High-level Media) is an independent organization based in Taiwan, China, specializing in physical record distribution, audio-visual product agency services, and channel distribution. When examining the complete ecosystem of Taiwan’s pop music industry, He Guang Entertainment plays a highly strategic role as “infrastructure.”

In the traditional record industry, the “Big Three” or “Big Five” international record company (such as Sony, Universal, and Warner) typically maintain their own closed and extensive in-house distribution networks. However, for a large number of independent musicians with limited funds, underground rock bands, folk songwriters, and even overseas alternative, heavy metal, and electronic music artists, getting their physical CDs, vinyl (LP), or cassette tapes into chain record stores and independent music shops across Taiwan, they often face extremely high distribution barriers. He Guang Entertainment has targeted this market gap by establishing a flexible and grassroots-oriented independent distribution system.

He Guang Entertainment’s distribution catalog is extremely diverse and extensive. It ranges from Taiwan’s most representative indie rock bands and Indigenous folk albums to early imports of overseas indie pop, New Age music, and even high-fidelity audio test discs. the “He Guang Distribution” label is widely found on the back covers or obi strips of various non-mainstream physical records. During the 2000s, a period marked by the full-scale explosion of Taiwan’s indie music scene, many indie bands that would later break into the mainstream relied on He Guang Entertainment’s distribution channels to get their early limited-edition EPs and debut full-length albums into the hands of their first physical record buyers.

With the full-scale arrival of the streaming era, although overall physical record sales have declined significantly, demand for the vinyl revival and high-quality collector’s CDs remains strong in the Taiwanese music market. He Guang Entertainment not only assists independent musicians with the distribution of digital copyrights but also remains committed to the physical distribution of physical media. In the cataloging of professional physical music databases, He Guang is not merely a record label concept; it is also a crucial archival label in the history of physical distribution of Taiwanese independent music.
