About

JVR Music (JVR Music International) is an independent pop music record label and comprehensive entertainment and talent management company based in Taiwan, China, founded in 2007. The company’s name, “JVR,” is derived from the initials of its three core founders: Mandarin pop superstar Jay Chou (Jay Chou), veteran music producer and lyricist Vincent Fang, and former Alpha Music General Manager Yang Junrong (JR Yang).

The establishment of JVR Music marked Jay Chou’s complete independence in terms of both commercial and artistic control over his personal music career. Prior to this, Jay Chou’s early classic albums (from *Jay* to *Still Fantasy*) were all released by Alpha Music. In 2007, as Jay Chou’s contract with his former label expired, the three co-founded JVR Music. The first major release following the establishment of record label was Jay Chou’s eighth solo studio album, *I’m Busy*. Since then, Jay Chou’s physical albums, digital singles, and major world tours have all been fully coordinated and produced by this record label.

In terms of its operational logic, JVR Music differs from traditional large-scale multinational record companys. Rather than operating on an assembly-line model of “signing a wide range of artists and releasing albums in bulk,” it has established a “boutique workshop” model centered entirely on superstars (Jay Chou), featuring highly centralized copyright pool management and the development of high-margin merchandise. record label places extreme importance on maintaining absolute control over music master rights, which, in the era of digital streaming, has granted JVR Music—leveraging Jay Chou’s vast catalog of highly streamed tracks—an exceptionally rare independent bargaining position in copyright negotiations with major multinational streaming platforms.

In addition to Jay Chou’s own business, JVR Music has also leveraged its robust production resources to sign and nurture a new generation of talented singer-songwriters such as Cindy Yen, Yang Ruidai (Gary Yang), and Patrick Brasca—all talented new-generation singer-songwriters—and has made extensive inroads into film and television soundtracks as well as cross-industry brand collaborations.

Observers of the pop music industry note that the emergence and development trajectory of JVR Music represent a significant snapshot of the shift in capital power within the Chinese-language pop music industry. It perfectly illustrates how, in the digital music era, music creators with top-tier appeal can, by establishing their own record label, completely break free from the channel exploitation of the traditional record industry and achieve a self-sustaining, closed-loop “360-degree full rights (360 Deal)” model for the independent operation of their musical works, IP licensing, and physical video publications.
