About

Oaeen Ltd (Oaeen Ltd.) is an independent music production and management company based in Taiwan, China, jointly founded by the six members of the renowned pop-rock band “Sodagreen” (which briefly used the name “魚丁糸 oaeen” due to a trademark dispute): Wu Qingfeng, Shi Junwei, Xie Xinyi, Gong Yuqi, He Jingyang, and Liu Jia Kai).

The company’s founding is deeply rooted in one of the most famous copyright and trademark disputes in the contemporary Mandarin-language music industry. After their contract with their former manager and the former record label Lin Weizhe Music Company expired, the band faced years of legal battles over the right to use the “Sodagreen” trademark and the copyrights to all their classic master recordings. To break the traditional unequal relationship between artists and management agencies and to maintain the band’s normal creative and performance activities, the members rearranged the name “魚丁糸” using its component radicals and established “Oaeen Ltd” (Oaeen Ltd.) as a legal and commercial entity fully controlled by the creators themselves.

During this independent operation phase, the company launched a massive music project called the “Reissue Project.” To legally reclaim the distribution revenue and digital rights to their early works, the band, through Oaeen Ltd, invested heavily to completely re-record (Re-recording) all classic albums from their pre-record label era (such as *Soda Green’s Self-Titled Album*, *Microcosm*, and *Unparalleled Beauty*) at a significant cost through Oaeen Ltd, using the original lineup and employing higher-standard studio techniques. This series of high-resolution reissue albums, known as the “Oaeen Version,” not only incorporates the band members’ mature artistic insights—gained over a decade later—into the details of the arrangements but also achieves exceptionally high artistic standards in physical packaging and high-fidelity mastering.

In 2022, the band finally succeeded in legally reclaiming ownership of the “Soda Green” trademark. Legal and music industry observers widely agree that the existence of Oaeen Ltd and the “reissue project” it spearheaded profoundly inspired the Chinese-language music scene to prioritize “master rights” and “creators’ autonomy,” serving as an exemplary case study of how pop music creators can resist exploitation by traditional industry capital.
