On June 30 of last year, Song Zuying teamed up with pop superstar Jay Chou, the “Piano Prince” Lang Lang, world-renowned tenor Plácido Domingo, and other top-tier artists to present a unique crossover performance. The “2009 ‘Charm of China’ Song Zuying Summer Concert at the Bird’s Nest, Beijing, China” was grandly held at the Bird’s Nest, the main Olympic venue, blending the classic sounds of classical, pop, folk, and bel canto music.
"Song Zuying. Beijing National Stadium Summer Concert” used music to bridge Chinese and global cultures, introducing Chinese culture and songs to the world and creating a brand-new cultural spectacle for 21st-century China. The concert was headlined by renowned contemporary Chinese singer Song Zuying, with special guest appearances by world-renowned tenor Plácido Domingo, the young world-renowned pianist Lang Lang, and pop music superstar Jay Chou. The live accompaniment was provided by more than 200 musicians from China’s renowned top orchestras—the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra; The concert’s chorus, comprising more than 150 members from ensembles such as the Opera Troupe of the China National Opera and Dance Theater and the China Radio Art Troupe Choir, was conducted by the distinguished conductor Mr. Yu Long. Together with an audience of over 30,000, they witnessed the successful performance of this concert.
