About the artist

Chih-lin Yen is a Taiwanese Paiwan male singer who forms the vocal duo Power Station with Chiu-hsin Yu. Chih-lin Yen grew up in Dashe Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County, and graduated from the local Dashe Elementary School. He later graduated from Taiwan Adventist College in Nantou County in 1987.

His experience in songwriting dates back to his youth. Encouraged to enter a creative competition for a recreation-counseling team, Chih-lin Yen won first place with an original song. Recalling the result, Chih-lin Yen said, "Quite a few people had created songs that day, but I won first place. It gave me a real sense of accomplishment, and that song later became '厚重的記憶.'"

After completing military service, Chih-lin Yen first sang at a folk-music restaurant in Tainan. His partner later joined him, and only then did they begin performing together. At first Chih-lin Yen was the lead singer and his partner played drums, switching to guitar after the guitarist left. ELLE Taiwan states that the pair performed at pubs and folk-music restaurants and were discovered for their soaring voices.
