About the artist

Jan Lamb (English name Jan), a Hong Kong singer and lyricist, a host on Commercial Radio Hong Kong's 叱咤903, and a 是但噏 actor (stand-up comedian), was born in Hong Kong on January 28, 1967.

Jan Lamb attended the St. Teresa's kindergarten and primary school in Kowloon Tong, later moved to Lai Tak Tsuen on Tai Hang Road, in Primary Three transferred to St. Joseph's Primary School in Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island, and graduated from St. Joseph's College. In 1985 Jan Lamb met 夏永康 and Eric Kot at 明愛白英奇日校 in Yau Ma Tei. After graduation Jan Lamb joined the advertising company BBDO as a finished-art artist, at the same time worked part-time as a salesperson at Esprit, and studied advertising graphic design at night at the Hong Kong Polytechnic in Hung Hom. In 1988 Jan Lamb joined the public-relations department of Commercial Radio Hong Kong, in charge of graphic design for the station's publicity. Later, with 俞琤's help, Jan Lamb and Eric Kot formed Softhard and began a broadcasting career, from guest-hosting "飛越癲狂院" and "珊珊收音機" to the two formally hosting the radio programme "軟硬癲台". Segments on the programme included "軟硬天師講鬼古", "地下天師流行榜" and "整蠱電話". In 1989 Softhard's first performance, "軟硬天師軟硬Show", ran for 9 shows at 大專會堂. The same year they recorded a single for the first time, "食嘢一族", with words by 黎彼得, included on the album "叱咤新一代". In 1991 Softhard released a first group album, "車欠石更", and the two began writing the words themselves, as in "川保久齡大戰山本耀司".
