About the artist
Mr. lead guitarist Quincy Tam went to Canada to study at age 10 and later graduated from Wexford Collegiate Institute.
Visual art is an area that Quincy Tam has continued to develop outside music. He attended an art school while in high school and worked in design before joining the band. Discussing his personal experience, he said, "I've always liked tattoo culture, and I also drew when I was little," and summarized his life as revolving around creative work.
His early band experience included the independent band White Noise. In the group's later work, Quincy Tam and Desmond Tam handled most of the lyric writing.
Tattooing later became a profession. A Sing Tao Daily report noted that after apprenticing in tattooing for a year, Quincy Tam was invited by Alex, a senior fellow apprentice, to join Alex's company as an in-house tattoo artist. The report described his style as based on American traditional tattooing with the addition of his own design elements.
Quincy Tam did not give up music when he became an in-house tattoo artist. In an interview, he stressed that the band had not disbanded and said that organizers continued to approach them after their 10th-anniversary concert in 2019, with the members remaining open to the idea.
According to Ming Pao, when the four members first considered reuniting, Quincy Tam opposed the reunion because it was difficult to replace former lead vocalist Alan Po's voice, but he later changed his mind, concerned that failing to act would leave regrets and encouraged by fans' support. All four members serve as lead vocalists after the reunion; discussing the change in his role, Quincy Tam said, "I didn't want to sing before. Even if someone handed me a microphone, I resisted because I'm not a trained singer."
