At the press conference on the 15th, Xu Wei reflected, “We’re wrapping up the tour in Beijing so that neither we nor the fans who love my music will have any regrets, and so that we can all cherish this experience together.”
On May 16, 2015, the “Right Here, Right Now” Xu Wei concert tour will return to its “starting point,” Beijing, bringing this two-year musical journey to a perfect close. At a press conference on the 15th, Xu Wei reflected, “We’re wrapping up the tour in Beijing so that neither we nor the fans who love my music are left with any regrets, and so we can all cherish this experience together.” According to the organizers, tickets for this concert are nearly sold out.
Xu Wei admitted that his mindset has changed significantly this year; he now simplifies his approach to people and situations—and to music as well. Speaking about wrapping up the tour in Beijing, Xu Wei said, “Actually, I have a special connection to the Workers’ Stadium; several major tours in my career have kicked off there… As the concerts progressed one by one, our team’s coordination and ability to adapt on the spot became increasingly polished, and the performance quality gradually improved. So this time, to wrap up the tour, we want to give Beijing our very best live performance—reuniting with our friends in a venue that can accommodate even more audience members. I suppose that’s just the cycle of life.”
Now in his forties, Xu Wei took up fitness after quitting smoking. He jokes that he now feels relaxed and at ease, and his friends even call him “Young Xu.” Xu Wei attributes this to the fact that he has always maintained a childlike spirit. Xu Wei also recalled that one of the most touching moments of the concert was when a fan proposed on stage. “I often see proposals at concerts, and they really move me—it gives me even more motivation.”
