About the artist

Rosanne Lui is a Hong Kong female singer and actress, born on March 29, 1964, known as "珊姐", a descendant of Ming-dynasty calligrapher 呂伯懿. Father 呂永 was editor-in-chief of "銀燈" and "明燈日報", and also a Cantonese-opera and film writer and lyricist. Entered the industry as a child through an introduction by a friend of the father; film star 呂奇 was a paternal uncle. In early years lived and grew up around Tsat Tsz Mui Road, North Point, Hong Kong Island.

In 1968 took the film "梅蘭菊竹" starring 呂奇 and became a child star, playing the little girl 方玉竹, working with then leading ladies 陳寶珠, 薛家燕 and 沈殿霞, and receiving public praise from 呂奇. Thereafter began stepping onto the singing stage, studying under singing teacher 許佩, and learning dance from 毛妹 and 趙蘭心; from six to seven performed at Kai Tak Amusement Park and Lai Yuen, from eleven to twelve went to RTV. After graduating from the afternoon session of North Point Government Primary School in 1976 entered Shau Kei Wan Government Secondary School, and when in Form 2, needing to balance a singing career, stayed in Singapore in the summer of 1978 to work and finish the secondary course.
